Spindle Turning on the Lathe is a Prerequisite for this class.
Using the new Rikon Midi lathe we will review the use and sharpening of the Make 717 bowl turning tools. Each tool will be discussed and demonstrated. Attendees will then work with the tools. Should you own turning tools take them along for sharpening or critique.
The use of the following tools and how to sharpen them will be presented and discussed. Attendees will then work with tools
Deep fluted bowl gouge
Negative rake scrapers versus
Standard Scraper (square end and Round)
Shear Scraper
At the end of the session the student will take home a student designed bowl type object.
Free hand sharpening will be demonstrated as well as the use of Wolverine Sharpening Jig.
Bring your own tools if you have them or you can use ours.
