The Python workshop will be geared toward learning Python programming to use the Python language on a device such as a Raspberry PI. We be conducting this course on a PC, and later we’ll be demonstrating how to copy this program code to a Raspberry PI. The emphasis of the workshop will focus on areas that will be of importance and use to Makers prototyping on this and similar boards using Python. By the end of the workshop, participants should be able to understand enough Python to write a simple program on a Raspberry PI - enough to enable it to do a few simple tasks such as reading inputs, processing them, and producing outputs that be seen or used to drive a motor, etc.
High school algebra and a reasonable aptitude for mathematics. Students without prior programming background will find there is a steep learning curve and may have to put in more than the estimated time effort.
If you have access to a laptop, we ask that you bring it to the workshop so that the makerspace PCs can be used by those without.
Participants under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
